Enabling Earthquake Alert in Android: A Step-by-Step Guide

Google has launched an Earthquake Alert System for Android devices. Here's how to enable it;
But before moving to the steps make sure you meet the requirements to get started.

Requirements:

  • Android device running version 5 or higher.
  • Internet connectivity (Wi-Fi or cellular).

Steps:

  • Go to Settings and enable Location Services for your device.
  • In Settings, select "Safety & emergency," then choose "Earthquake Alerts."
  • Turn on the toggle switch for Earthquake Alerts.


The Earthquake Alert System provides two types of alerts:

  • Be Aware Alerts: For light shaking, respecting your device's settings.
  • Take Action Alerts: For moderate to heavy shaking, overriding Do Not Disturb and producing loud sound.

This feature aims to provide advance earthquake warnings to Android users.
