Google has launched an Earthquake Alert System for Android devices. Here's how to enable it;
But before moving to the steps make sure you meet the requirements to get started.
Requirements:
- Android device running version 5 or higher.
- Internet connectivity (Wi-Fi or cellular).
Steps:
- Go to Settings and enable Location Services for your device.
- In Settings, select "Safety & emergency," then choose "Earthquake Alerts."
- Turn on the toggle switch for Earthquake Alerts.
The Earthquake Alert System provides two types of alerts:
- Be Aware Alerts: For light shaking, respecting your device's settings.
- Take Action Alerts: For moderate to heavy shaking, overriding Do Not Disturb and producing loud sound.
This feature aims to provide advance earthquake warnings to Android users.
