Huawei is reportedly poised to unveil its cutting-edge data storage solution, the OceanStor Arctic, by 2025, featuring an innovative technology dubbed "magneto-electric disk" (MED). According to reports, Huawei's MED technology is projected to support rack capacities exceeding 10PB while consuming less than 2kW of power. For context, a conventional 42U rack can accommodate up to 288 HDDs, storing up to 8.64PB of data, while consuming approximately 2.88kW of power. Similarly, 4U storage servers, like the ASRock Rack 4U100-C612, can house 100 3.5-inch hard drives, storing up to 3PB of data at 1kW each. However, powering 10 such machines would demand a significant power supply.
