HMD Global Revamps Online Presence, Prepares for Nokia and HMD Smartphone Launches as New Models Spotted on IMEI Website Ahead of MWC 2024

HMD Global has recently revamped its online presence by eliminating the Nokia branding across all platforms. The domain Nokia.com now redirects to HMD.com, and the Twitter handle @nokiamobile has been replaced by @HMDglobal. This move signifies a significant shift for the Finnish company, particularly in anticipation of its forthcoming smartphone launches. While there were expectations that only HMD-branded products would emerge following this transition, a recent report suggests otherwise, indicating the presence of new Nokia-branded smartphones listed on the IMEI website.

According to a report from GSMChina, there have been sightings of 17 new Nokia models on the IMEI website, spanning from TA-1603 to TA-1628 in terms of model numbers. It's speculated that these models could vary significantly, potentially featuring different configurations such as RAM and storage options. Furthermore, some of these models might make their debut at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 in Barcelona, scheduled from February 26 to February 29.

Although the report lacks specific details about these purported smartphones, it confirms their association with the Nokia brand. Notably, Nokia and HMD Global entered into a 10-year agreement in 2016, extending until 2026, suggesting a continued presence of Nokia models in the market. While the models spotted on the IMEI database may hit the shelves sooner rather than later, there's a possibility of their release within this year.

In a separate development, recent findings on the IMEI website indicate the presence of nine new HMD-branded handsets. These could encompass various models or potentially represent different configurations of a single model, varying in RAM and storage capacities. One particular HMD model, identified with the codename N159V, was recently leaked sporting a black color variant featuring a dual rear camera setup accompanied by an LED flash, positioning it as a prospective mid-range offering.

Furthermore, another leak unveils an HMD smartphone anticipated to launch in a blue color variant soon. This device showcases a prominent 108-megapixel primary rear camera, complemented by optical image stabilization (OIS) support, housed within a rectangular camera module located at the top left corner of the rear panel. However, beyond these details, further information regarding this model remains scarce.
