Google's Circle to Search Feature Appears on Unsupported Devices, Prompting Speculation on Wider Availability

Despite Circle to Search being exclusive to the Pixel 8, 8 Pro, and Samsung Galaxy S24 series, some users received notifications from the Pixel Tips app suggesting its availability on their unsupported devices.

These notifications prompted users to "Discover Circle to Search," offering a glimpse into its functionality, which enables users to search for anything on their Pixel device without switching apps. The demo experience demonstrated how users can instantly search by touching and holding the home button or the handle at the bottom of the screen, then circling or tapping text or images.

However, it seems Google overlooked limiting the availability of Circle to Search to just the Pixel 8 series, as evidenced by its appearance in the Pixel Tips app on unsupported devices. This oversight may have been addressed by Google following its discovery.

While Circle to Search is currently part of the "New Google AI features" collection on the Pixel 8 series alongside other features like Magic Editor and Audio Magic Eraser, it should theoretically be accessible on most Android devices in the future, as it does not have specific hardware requirements.

Google has not yet disclosed when Circle to Search will be available on other Pixel devices. The initial exclusivity period for the Samsung Galaxy S24 series suggests that wider availability may still be a few months away. However, Circle to Search could potentially be included in an upcoming Pixel Feature Drop, further expanding its availability across the Android ecosystem.
