Samsung SmartTag 2: New Features, Extended Battery Life, and Enhanced Design Unveiled

Samsung has announced the latest addition to its SmartTag lineup, the SmartTag 2, featuring an upgraded design with improved durability and versatility, along with an extended battery life. Notable enhancements include the incorporation of a metal ring inside the device, expanding its utility for various purposes. One standout feature is the "Lost Mode," allowing owners to input their contact information. When someone finds the SmartTag 2 and scans it using NFC on their phone, the owner's contact information is automatically displayed.

Moreover, a new Compass View feature, compatible with UWB-enabled devices like the Galaxy S Ultra series, helps users pinpoint the exact direction of their SmartTag 2. The SmartTag 2 boasts impressive battery life, with a Power Saving Mode extending it up to 700 days, while the Normal mode lasts up to 500 days. The updated SmartThings Find app accompanies this release, offering a full-screen map view and seamless syncing with new Galaxy phones. The app also leverages Bluetooth LE, UWB, and Augmented Reality technologies for precise SmartTag 2 location tracking.

Additionally, Samsung prioritizes user privacy, with "Unknown tag alerts" in the app to detect potential tracking device misuse. The SmartTag 2 will be available globally starting October 11 at a price of $30.
