Microsoft is set to roll out its AI assistant Copilot for Windows starting from September 26, and Microsoft 365 Copilot for enterprise customers from November 1, 2023, alongside Microsoft 365 Chat. These Copilot-branded AI assistants aim to provide a unified experience across various operating systems, applications, and devices, as highlighted by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.
Nadella emphasized the potential of AI when it's informed by context beyond what's immediately visible, envisioning a convergence of traditionally separate categories such as search, productivity, operating systems, and devices.
Copilot will integrate web-based context and work data with real-time PC activities to offer enhanced assistance while prioritizing privacy and security. It will be seamlessly available within Windows 11, Microsoft 365, and the Edge and Bing web browser, functioning as an app or activating through a right-click context menu.
Microsoft also announced over 150 new features in the upcoming Windows 11 update, introducing the power of Copilot and new AI-driven experiences to various applications like Paint, Photos, and Clipchamp, enhancing the Windows PC user experience.
Furthermore, Bing will incorporate support for OpenAI's latest DALL.E 3 model, providing more personalized search results based on users' search history. It will also introduce an AI-powered shopping experience and updates to Bing Chat Enterprise, emphasizing mobile and visual interaction.
The software giant also revealed the launch of new Surface devices that will leverage these AI experiences, and they are available for pre-order starting today.
