Truecaller's call-recording feature for iPhones will stop working from September 30

Truecaller will drop its call recording feature for iPhones on September 30, 2025, due to Apple’s strict platform limitations and the high cost of maintaining the workaround. The feature, introduced in 2023, relied on merging calls through a recording line—something iOS doesn’t natively support—which led to rising infrastructure demands and a clunky user experience.

With Apple now offering its own call recording and transcription in iOS 18.1, Truecaller is choosing to step back and focus on features like Live Caller ID and spam call detection, which remain key to its premium service.

If you use the recording feature, you’ll need to manually export your files or switch on iCloud storage within the app’s settings before the deadline. After September 30, recordings stored only in the app could be lost.

This change matters: about 44% of Truecaller’s premium revenue comes from iPhone users. But with Apple offering cleaner, on-device alternatives, Truecaller seems to be betting on sticking to what it does best—caller ID and spam protection.
