Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas says their new AI browser, Comet, is designed to fully automate the work of two office roles: recruiters and executive assistants—all from a single prompt.

For recruiters, Comet can find candidates, send messages on Gmail and LinkedIn, update spreadsheets, and schedule interviews. For assistants, it can manage calendars, sort emails, fix meeting clashes, and prep briefing docs—no manual work needed.

Srinivas sees this going further. He says Comet could evolve into a full AI operating system for knowledge workers, handling tasks quietly in the background. The browser launched in July 2025, and is available via invite or the company’s $200/month “Max” plan. It connects directly with Gmail, LinkedIn, Google Calendar, and Sheets.

Perplexity now serves 30 million users and recently hit an $18 billion valuation. Srinivas warned that depending on how fast models like GPT-5 progress, Comet could start replacing real office jobs in 6 to 12 months. While some believe AI will assist more than replace, Srinivas isn’t shy about its potential to do both.

Comet isn’t just another AI assistant—it’s a sign that routine desk jobs could be the next to go.
