Google's Tensor G4 chip, produced by Samsung on a 4nm process, aims for enhanced performance and efficiency in Pixel 9 and potential Fold 2

Later this year, Google is set to introduce its Tensor G4 SoC to power upcoming devices such as the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and potentially the Pixel Fold 2. A recent report from Korea aligns with previous rumors, indicating that Samsung's foundry will manufacture the G4 using the 4nm process.

The Tensor G4 is expected to feature enhanced heat management capabilities, alongside improved performance and higher efficiency compared to its predecessor, the G3. This advancement signifies a notable progression in Google's chipset technology, addressing previous limitations and paving the way for enhanced user experiences.

Interestingly, Samsung's Exynos 2400, prominently featured in the Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24+, has garnered positive reception, potentially attracting more customers to Samsung's foundry. This development underscores Samsung's increasing competitiveness in the semiconductor manufacturing industry, bolstering its position as a viable alternative to other chip-making giants.


Notably, prominent figures in the tech industry, including Meta's Mark Zuckerberg and Open AI CEO Sam Altman, advocate for reducing reliance on Taiwanese TSMC for chip production. With TSMC currently holding approximately 50% market share, diversifying chip manufacturing sources is becoming increasingly appealing.
