OnePlus recently held an event in China, unveiling details about the camera capabilities of its upcoming flagship, the OnePlus 12. The brand aims to surpass competitors' Pro models in terms of camera performance. The OnePlus 12 will feature the powerful Sony LYT-T808 sensor, a result of OnePlus' partnership with Sony. This sensor, only second to Sony IMX989, promises exceptional imaging capabilities.
The Sony LYT-T808 sensor, also found in the OnePlus Open and Oppo Find N3, is a 50MP sensor with a 1/1.4-inch sensor size. It incorporates double-layer transistor pixel technology to capture more information, especially in challenging lighting conditions. This sensor has already proven its worth in the OnePlus Open, considered OnePlus' best camera smartphone to date, and the brand aims to enhance its performance further on the OnePlus 12.
OnePlus confirmed the use of the OmniVision OV64B for the telephoto camera, a 64MP sensor offering 3x optical zoom. The ultrawide camera details haven't been officially disclosed, but it is likely to be equipped with a Sony IMX581, a 48MP sensor. Additionally, the OnePlus 12 will introduce the HyperTone camera system, developed by Hasselblad and Oppo. This system promises superior photography with improved noise reduction, realistic portrait shots, and increased clarity.
Other known specifications include the recently released Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 as the SoC and a new BOE display. OnePlus highlights that the display will feature an unparalleled brightness rating, enhancing the overall user experience. The OnePlus 12 aims to solidify its position as a photography powerhouse with cutting-edge camera technology and robust hardware.
