Samsung's Upcoming Exynos 1480 Midrange Chipset with AMD Graphics Spotted on Geekbench

Samsung is on the cusp of unveiling a new midrange chipset with a distinctive twist – it incorporates AMD graphics. While the official release is forthcoming, an unofficial glimpse of this chip has emerged thanks to a Geekbench listing.

The chipset, known as the Exynos 1480 (S5E8845), is poised to follow in the footsteps of the Exynos 1380, offering an upgrade in various aspects. It boasts an octa-core architecture based on ARMv8 technology, comprising 4 high-performance cores clocked at 2.75GHz and 4 efficiency cores running at 2.05GHz.

However, what truly sets the Exynos 1480 apart is its integration of the Xclipse 530 GPU, which leverages AMD RDNA 2 graphics technology. This is the same graphics architecture that graced the flagship Exynos 2200 chipset in 2022, which powered European Galaxy S22 series smartphones. This indicates that Samsung is determined to bring advanced graphics performance to its midrange smartphone lineup.

The Exynos 1480 is rumored to make its debut with the Galaxy A55 and may potentially find its way into other Galaxy A-series devices in 2024. This strategic move by Samsung underscores the company's commitment to delivering impressive graphics capabilities in its midrange smartphones, further blurring the lines between midrange and flagship devices.
