Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro: Specs, Features, and Pricing

Google has officially unveiled the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, with the major highlight being the new Tensor G3 chipset manufactured on Samsung's 4nm process. The Pixel 8 comes with 8 GB of RAM, while the Pro model ups it to 12 GB. Both phones boast IP68 water and dust resistance and offer fingerprint and face unlock features. The Pixel 8 Pro sports a 6.7-inch QHD+ LTPO OLED display with a remarkable peak brightness of 2,400 nits and is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Color options for the Pro include Blue, Obsidian, and Beige. The 128GB Google Pixel 8 starts at €800/$700/INR76,000, while the 128GB Google Pixel 8 Pro is €1,100/$1,000/INR107,000.


The camera setup on the Pixel 8 Pro includes a 50MP Octa-PD wide shooter with OIS, a new 48MP Quad-PD ultrawide, and a 48MP Quad-PD 5x zoom camera with up to 30X Super-Res digital zoom. On the front, there's a 10.5MP unit with a wide field of view. An exclusive feature for the Pixel 8 Pro is a skin temperature sensor placed next to the cameras. The Pixel 8 series introduces several photography features like Photo Unblur, Magic Eraser, Best Take, and Macro Focus, with the Pro model offering Pro Controls. The Pixel 8 Pro houses a 5,050mAh battery with 30W wired charging and 23W wireless charging.


The Pixel 8, on the other hand, has a slightly smaller 6.2-inch FHD+ display but offers improved brightness at 2,000 nits peak and a 120Hz refresh rate. It also features Gorilla Glass Victus protection and comes in color options of Hazel, Obsidian, or Rose. The camera setup includes a 50MP main camera with 8x Super-Res digital zoom, a 12MP autofocus ultrawide, and a 10.5MP selfie camera. The Pixel 8 is equipped with a 4,575mAh battery and supports 27W wired and 18W wireless charging.


Both Pixel 8 phones come with a free VPN by Google One and the promise of 7 years of OS and security updates, which is one of the longest support periods in the Android realm.
