Apple Releases iOS 17.1, iPadOS 17.1, and watchOS 10.1 with Various Improvements and Bug Fixes

Apple has released iOS 17.1, iPadOS 17.1, and watchOS 10.1 for all supported devices. These updates include several improvements and bug fixes. Notable changes in iOS and iPadOS 17.1 include support for continuing AirDrop file transfers over the internet when out of AirDrop range, updates to the Apple Music app, fixes for high Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) values in France on iPhone 12, and improved Screen Time syncing across devices. Additionally, iPadOS 17.1 adds support for the USB-C Apple Pencil.

For watchOS 10.1, Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 now have the Double Tap gesture, allowing users to perform the primary action in notifications and most apps with a double tap. On the Apple Watch Series 7 and later, NameDrop enables contact information exchange by bringing the watch near an iPhone running iOS 17, or another supported Apple Watch. The update also addresses various bugs, including blank sections in the Home app, syncing issues in the Weather app, and an unexpected scroll bar appearance on the display. These updates are available for users to manually download and install on their devices.
