Samsung's inaugural extended reality (XR) headset, codenamed Project Moohan, is reportedly experiencing delays, with its launch now anticipated in late 2025. This postponement suggests that the device may not debut alongside the upcoming Galaxy Z-series foldable smartphones at the next Galaxy Unpacked event, traditionally held in July.

Display Technology and Competitive Edge

Despite the delay, Project Moohan is expected to feature advanced display technology that could surpass competitors like Apple's Vision Pro. Reports indicate that Samsung plans to incorporate 1.3-inch Micro-OLED panels developed by Sony, offering a resolution of 3,552 × 3,840 pixels and 96% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage. This setup would provide nearly 2 million more pixels per eye compared to the Vision Pro, potentially delivering superior visual clarity and color fidelity.

At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, Samsung showcased Project Moohan, highlighting its commitment to integrating artificial intelligence with XR technologies. However, detailed information regarding the headset's specifications and capabilities remains limited, as Samsung has yet to provide comprehensive insights into the device.

Project Moohan represents a collaborative effort between Samsung, Google, and Qualcomm, aiming to establish a robust Android XR platform.
