Samsung Considers Slim Galaxy S25 Model to Test Demand for Ultra-Thin Phones, Potentially Shaping Future Flagships

Ten years ago, Samsung released the Galaxy Alpha, a 6.7mm thin phone that influenced the Galaxy S6 design the following year. Now, according to industry sources cited by ETNews, Samsung may launch a Slim version of one of its Galaxy S25 models. This device would arrive a few months after the main S25 series, similar to the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, focusing primarily on achieving a thinner profile.

It remains uncertain which S25 model (vanilla, Plus, or Ultra) will serve as the base for this slim device, but this approach allows Samsung to test market interest in ultra-thin phones. If the feedback is positive, this design could influence the Galaxy S26 lineup.

A separate report from The Elec suggests that Samsung might also make the Galaxy S25 FE a Slim model, released later to avoid competing directly with the main S25 series. Samsung’s move comes as Apple also considers a Slim version for next year, potentially replacing the current Plus model.

Samsung’s objective is to gauge if thinner phones resonate with consumers before making significant changes to its flagship Galaxy S lineup.
