Raymond Hill, the lead developer of uBlock Origin, explained that uBlock Origin depends on Manifest V2 definitions, which is why users are seeing warnings. Although this shift to Manifest V3 is intended to be beneficial, it has created challenges for users of older extensions.

For those who are concerned about the transition, there are some options available. The Chrome Web Store suggests alternatives such as uBlock Origin Lite, Ghostery, and Adblock Plus. uBlock Origin Lite is designed to comply with Manifest V3 but may lack some features found in the original version. Ghostery and Adblock Plus are also recommended for users looking for similar functionality. Chrome allows users to re-enable older Manifest V2 extensions temporarily, though this option will be phased out soon. By early next year, Manifest V3 extensions will be the only ones supported. If the new framework poses too many issues, users might consider switching to a different browser. For instance, Firefox does not plan to deprecate V2 extensions in the near future, offering an alternative for those who prefer to keep using their current extensions.

The transition to Manifest V3 will affect all Chrome users, with a full switch expected by early next year. However, enterprise users will have additional time until June 2025 before Manifest V2 is completely phased out. The move to Manifest V3 is designed to address several issues, including security and performance, but it also presents a challenge for developers and users of older extensions.
