Recent leaks about Samsung's upcoming One UI 7.0 update provide intriguing glimpses into the potential redesign of the company's Android interface. Speculations suggest extensive changes, including revamped user interface elements, animations, menus, settings, and an overhaul of Samsung’s native app icons.
Previous rumors highlighted changes in the Camera and Gallery icons, and now new screenshots introduce additional icon updates. Despite the imperfect image quality, these screenshots offer valuable insights into the direction of the icon design for One UI 7.0.
One of the most striking updates is the Samsung Internet icon, now rotated 90 degrees and featuring a more vibrant color palette with subtle blue gradients. The Phone app icon has also been modified, with SamMobile noting it looks fuller and more pill-like in shape.

Other icons show mixed results: the Contacts icon remains largely unchanged, while the Settings icon undergoes a significant transformation, resembling iOS's style. The Clock icon has also been revamped, now displaying a white background with clock hands pointing in nearly opposite directions.
These changes suggest a potential shift away from Google’s Material Design principles, especially for app icons. This isn't entirely unexpected, as One UI already allows users to convert most icons into flat, monochromatic versions.
The new designs emphasize vibrant colors and, in some instances, introduce subtle gradients that hint at a three-dimensional effect—marking a clear departure from Material Design’s flat aesthetic.
Rumors also point to other new features in One UI 7.0, including a revamped home screen menu with enhanced customization options and a feature similar to iOS’s Live Activities. Specifically, @UniverseIce suggests Samsung might introduce functionality displaying additional information through the status bar’s pill-shaped area during phone calls.
As always, it's essential to treat these leaks with caution. Even if the leaked icons are accurate, there's no certainty they will be included in the final release of One UI 7.0. The beta program is expected to start next month, and we will provide detailed coverage of the firmware and beta participation process.
