Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 Experience Display Flickering Issue in Always-On Mode

The emergence of a display flickering issue in the new Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 models when Always-On mode is active has garnered attention from concerned users.

Numerous owners of these new Apple Watch variants have shared their experiences of the problem on various platforms, including Apple's Support forums, third-party Apple-related websites, and social media outlets like Reddit.

Reports indicate that Apple has internally acknowledged the issue and is in the process of developing a software-based solution. An internal service memo sent to Apple Authorized Service Providers advises against attempting hardware repairs and encourages users to ensure their devices are updated with the latest watchOS.

This suggests that the flickering problem is rooted in software rather than a hardware flaw in the new Apple Watch models. Notably, these watches were launched just last month alongside the new iPhone 15 series, which faced its own set of challenges at launch, notably overheating issues with the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. However, Apple effectively addressed these problems through iOS updates.

In addition to the flickering issue, Apple is investigating another concern where Apple Watch complications temporarily turn pink on the display. This issue, too, is expected to be resolved with a forthcoming watchOS update.

In the meantime, Apple has provided a temporary workaround for users experiencing the flickering issue: disabling the Always-On mode until the software update fix is released, effectively preventing the bug from impacting their experience.
